Kankai-ji Temple in Beppu

Series; The New Eight Best Scenery of Japan

The New Eight Best Scenery of Japan - Fantastic chuban-sized version of a Hasui series originally published by Bijutsusha in the late 1920s. These striking prints feature beautiful views of traditional Japanese landscapes, rendered with fine detail, sophisticated color, and soft bokashi shading like the originals. This rare chuban set was issued in 1974 by the Ukiyo-e Hanga Publishing Society. Lifetime, oban impressions of these subjects are extremely rare, so these smaller versions are a wonderful opportunity to acquire a lovely Hasui design.

Kankai-ji Temple in Beppu - Beautiful view of the famous Kankai-ji Temple in Beppu during a summer storm. Rain slants across the gray sky, the buildings nestled in the valley below dramatic mountains and low-lying clouds. Lovely bokashi shading in the sky and mountains.
