Yamakawa Shuho (1898 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Dusk

Series; Four Images of Women

Dusk - Lovely shin-hanga portrait of a pensive beauty as evening falls, lost in her thoughts as she looks down. Her hair arranged in soft puffs around her face, with an elaborate bun atop her head adorned with a comb and a purple tie-dyed ribbon. This chuban-sized version of Shuho's "Dusk" was published in 1974 by the Ukiyo-e Hanga Publishing Society, and released in a set with Hasui's "The New Eight Best Scenery of Japan" series.
