Bando Tamasaburo as Komurasaki and Iwai Kakitsubata as Shirai Gonpachi

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene featuring Bando Tamasaburo as the courtesan Komurasaki and Iwai Kakitsubata as he lover, Shirai Gonpachi, who is wanted for the murder of his uncle. Here, Gonpachi looks down with a crazed expression, his eyes wide his sweetheart tugs on the end of his obi. She looks over her shoulder, her mouth hidden by the sleeve held to her chin. A low folding screen behind the pair depicts autumn grasses and flowers, with signs along the back of the room. Nice expressive figures in an interesting setting.
