Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Net Fishing on the Tone River in Shimosa Province - Great image of a lone fisherman struggling to pull in his large net on the Tone River. He places one foot against the side of the boat to brace himself as he tugs on the net, leaning back with all his weight. The rough surface of the water undulates, and marshy grasses line the shore at right. Nice handling of the transparency of the net.
