Series; Portraits of Elegant Styles (Furyu choshi fue)

Beauty on an Embankment - Handsome portrait of a beauty standing along an embankment, looking to the side with a dismayed expression, her mouth slightly agape. She wears a light blue kimono bordered with swallows in flight, tied with a black floral obi that reverses to a red print. Her hair is adorned with tortoises hairpins and combs, including one with a mandarin duck on it, and a metal hairpin with a tiny duck daggling from a chain. A willow tree frames the view with undulating water below. An attractive design from a rarely seen Kunisada series, which is also translated as "Popular Flute Tunes and Pictures of Women."

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 7/8" x 10 1/4"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A couple small repairs, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
