Series; Twelve Views of Modern Women
The Amused Type: Sumida River - Charming portrait of a beauty playing a hand game similar to rock/paper/scissors called jankenpon, smiling happily as she gestures with both hands. She wears a plaid kimono in soft color, a roll of tissues and a plectrum for playing the shamisen tacked into her obi. She wears a fashionable lipstick that takes on a green tone when applied more thickly. An inset at upper left takes the form of a scroll unrolling, showing a view of boats along the Sumida River with steps leading to the torii gate of Mimeguri Shrine on the far shore. An attractive image and a classic ukiyo-e beauty portrait.
