Comments - Lovely triptych depicting a group of courtesans enjoying a variety of activities on a spring day. At right, a young woman kneels beside a vase on a red lacquer stand as she creates a floral arrangement, using blossoming cherry branches from a tray on the floor nearby. The beauty standing at far right shows off an unusual hairstyle with her long ponytail adorned with folded papers, ribbons tied into bows, and a gray cloth at the bottom. At bottom center, a courtesan smiles as she plays the kokyo, an instrument similar to a shamisen but played upright with a bow. Her companion at left plays the koto. At upper left, a woman reads a book with a woodblock print on the cover, while in the center, others write poem slips and paint fans. The verandah overlooks a view of cherry trees covered with pink and white flowers. A wonderful design with attractive color and detail.
