Procession of Lord Minamoto Yoritomo on the Way to the Hunting Grounds at Mount Fuji, 1865

Comments - Terrific depiction of the procession of Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo on its way to the hunting grounds at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Samurai on horseback and on foot cross an arched wooden bridge, several men carrying tall standards topped with red fringe that flutters in the wind. At upper left, townspeople kneel respectfully along the side of the street to watch Lord Yoritomo's entourage pass by. At right, warehouses line the waterfront, and soft pink clouds drift across the sky. A handsome design with wonderful detail in the figures and setting.

Artist - Kuniteru II (1829 - 1874)

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/8"
