Comments - Fantastic kabuki scene depicting the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima in 1561 between the forces of Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin. In the center, Kenshin gallops into the enemy camp on a dappled horse, swinging his sword at his enemy in a surprise attack. At left, Shingen deftly thrusts out his iron battle fan to deflect the coming blow. He wears a striking helmet topped with a demon's head and flowing white wig. At right, Shingen's trusted general Yamamoto Kansuke grips his pole arm with both hands, grimacing with rage. From left, the actors are Nakamura Shikan IV, Bando Hikosaburo V, and Onoe Kikugoro V. A dramatic design with large bold figures and vibrant color. Includes embossing on the white wig and burnishing on the helmets and armor.
