Original Kokunimasa (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Illustration of His Imperial Majesty, Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, Arriving in the Capital in Triumph, 1895

Comments - Great scene of the Meiji Emperor returning to the capital following Japan's victory in the Sino-Japanese War. Arriving by train, he is greeted by the Empress and the young Prince, with other dignitaries standing around. Flags and red and white striped bunting add a festive air to the celebration. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black uniforms. The first time we've seen this subject.

Artist - Kokunimasa (1874 - 1944)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 27 3/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. A few marks. Please see photos for details.
