Original Kokunimasa (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
His Majesty's Triumphal Arrival in Kyoto, 1895

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting the arrival of the Meiji Emperor and officers in Kyoto following Japan's victory in the Sino-Japanese War. He rides a dappled horse at center, dressed in a military uniform adorned with a sash and medals. The soldier riding alongside him carries a Japanese flag, fluttering in the wind. At left, a dignitary bows respectfully in greeting, and troops and guests are lined up outside a modern stone building at left. An interesting subject, nicely detailed with burnishing on the black uniforms.

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 27 3/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Please see photos for details.
