Comments - Fantastic night scene of the young Ushiwakamaru fighting the legendary robber Chohan and his gang of thieves at an inn. The youthful warrior fearlessly faces the much larger Chohan, who grimaces as he swings a naginata with both hands, a monk's mantle wrapped around his neck. Ushiwakamaru, who later becomes the great swordsman Yoshitsune, waves a fan with one hand, gripping his sword in the other. One of Chohan's men holds a lantern at left, casting a shaft of light across the scene the illuminates the figures in color, the rest of the image in muted shades of gray. A great depiction of this famous incident in the life of the young samurai, filled with energy and action.
