A Special Boston Collection - We are excited to share with you a special collection of Meiji era designs, original shin-hanga prints, and high quality reprints. During a recent trip to Boston, we purchased the remaining stock from a gallery specializing in Japanese woodblock prints. This Boston gallery opened in the mid 1920's and went out of business in 1933 during the Great Depression. The original owner's daughter had kept the prints safely stored for more than 75 years! These terrific works are in wonderful condition, looking almost as if they came straight from the publisher. A real treasure trove of pre-WWII prints, with original designs ranging from classic poem slips, serene landscapes, charming birds and flowers, and popular silhouette scenes, to reprints of masterworks by Hiroshige. A great opportunity to purchase an excellent early 20th century woodblock at a low Fuji Arts price!

Comments - Nice still life of a fish lying on a few leafy stalks of bamboo, drawn with bold calligraphic line work. A classic design in the tradition of sumi ink and wash drawings.

Details of Ultimate Clearance

In order to purchase from our Ultimate Clearance, you must purchase a minimum of $25 worth of prints. This means, that you can either buy Ultimate Clearance prints as a group or simply purchase a single Ultimate Clearance print as well as any other normally priced item from our listings.

All prints offered in our Ultimate Clearance are Japanese woodblock prints - either original or reprints (please see photos, reprints are obvious). All of our woodblock prints are printed from wood blocks produced by hand. When we offer these prints so inexpensively, we do not offer any description or condition report - we have to let our excellent photos do all the talking, so be sure to look carefully at the photos.

While you're shopping, keep in mind that some condition issues could simply be framed out, some could be easily repaired, and others just allow you to enjoy owning a 19th century original at a bargain price. Of course, many prints are in excellent condition, just needing to be cleared out.
