Comments - Great scene of the general Sakuma Morimasa confronting Hashiba Hideyoshi (the future Toyotomi Hideyoshi) on horseback. His horse rears at left, pawing at the air with its hoofs as Morimasa lowers his head with a defiant glare, gripping an iron spear with both hands. At right Hideyoshi waits calmly on his horse, two retainers at his side ready to spring at the attacker with their swords. Hideyoshi wears a fine suit of armor and a battle helmet topped with a dragon, a tasseled command baton in his hand. Beautiful detail in the expressive figures and the handsome landscape setting, with bokashi shading on the background.
