A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Kuniyoshi Prints - One of the great masters of ukiyo-e woodblocks, Kuniyoshi is perhaps best known for his warrior prints, but he worked in a range of subjects. In addition to dramatic samurai and battle scenes, he also created kabuki, beauty, landscape, and comic designs, each expertly drawn and composed. Don't miss this opportunity to acquire a classic woodblock by this great Edo era artist at a low opening bid price.

Scene from Shinrei Yaguchi no Watashi, 1848 - Interesting kabuki scene from the play "Shinrei Yaguchi no Watashi" featuring from left, Onoe Kikugoro II as Tombei's daughter Ofune and Seki Sanjuro III as the boatman Rokuzo. The beauty kneels on the floor, bowing slightly as she looks up with a faint smile. Rokuzo grimaces as he holds her sleeve to his unshaven chin, wearing a blue kimono patterned with delicate grasses, a dotted cloth draped over one shoulder. A wooden chest of drawers sits on the floor of the room behind him. Nice expressive figures.
