The Sumida River: The Old Story of the Capital Birds, circa 1845 - 1846 - Handsome portrait of a nobleman along the bank of the Sumida River in Edo, pausing beneath a willow tree to admire the view. He wears a diamond patterned robe lined in red over full pants, and a tall black court cap, a young page kneeling behind him, holding his sword upright. A few birds float on the water as other take flight. An attractive design from a rarely seen Hiroshige series. Only the second time we've seen a print from this series.

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A few small repairs and creases. Please see photos for details.
