Yakko, Beauty, and Farmer

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a beauty and four men in conversation. In the center, the beauty looks up with a smile as she bites the edge of a white cloth. The nobleman behind her glares angrily at the commoners at left, a fan in hand. At lower left, a yakko or footman claps two sandals together as he frowns at the pipe-smoking man behind him. The farmer at right grins evilly as he carries a hoe over his shoulder. Nice large expressive figures set off by a deep blue background, bordered by a simulated red lacquer frame. Includes burnishing on the yakko's black kimono.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28"

Condition - This print with nice color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few repairs, horizontal wrinkle across center, slight rubbing and curling, a few marks. Please see photos for details.
