Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Omatsuri Kingoro, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of the commoner Omatsuri Kingoro carrying a tobacco set and rubbing his head as he frowns. A diamond print coat with a pleated collar is draped over his striped kimono, a narrow sash tied around his head and his hair pulled back into a rather sloppy knot. A vine with leaves in autumn colors frames the name panel at upper right, with a border of clouds above. An unusual chuban format, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 10" x 7 /14" + right margin as shown

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at top edges from previous mounting. Thinning spot, repaired. Creasing at edges. Please see photos for details.
