Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Music on a Spring Night, 1869

Comments - Handsome scene of Prince Genji enjoying an evening of music. He kneels on a cushion in the center, smiling happily as he rests one hand atop a shakuhachi flute. He grins at the beauty at left, who plays a biwa or Japanese lute. At right, a woman carries in a koto while the beauty next to her holds a song book. The room opens onto a view of cherry blossoms framing the night sky. A lovely design, beautifully color and detailed, with faint embossing on the white kimono collars and the white stand at left that holds a pile of scrolls.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 28 3/4" + margins as shown
