Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of the otokodate or street knight Nozarashi hiding behind a curtain at left, much to the alarm of the young woman and older man at right, who point at him with worried expressions. In the center, a beauty sits calmly in a palanquin carried by a bearer in a checked kimono, ready to leave. Nozarashi seems agitated, one hand resting atop the hilt of his sword and the other thrust out beside him, a bloody cut on his forehead. From left, the actors are Ichimura Kakitsu IV, Sawamura Tossho, Nakamura Tsuruzo I, and Bando Mitsugoro IV. An interesting subject with a nicely detailed setting.
