Original Edo era Japanese Woodblock Print
Sickness Doctor with Eight Eyes

Comments - Strange image depicting a doctor with "yatsume," which can be translated as having eight eyes or many eyes. He sits at upper right, an elderly man with long gray hair and a third eye visible in the center of his forehead, scowling angrily as he looks over his shoulder. At lower right, a man in black coat sprinkles powder over a kneeling man in a tie-dyed kimono, a packet of medicine in his hand. At lower left, a fellow with a cloth tied over his mouth scratches his head in a puzzled manner. An interesting and unusual subject with expressive figures.
