Bando Hikosaburo as Hakata Kojoro and Iwai Kumesaburo as Komatsuya Soshichi, 1861

Comments - Attractive kabuki scene of the beauty Hakata Kojoro leaning over her lover, smiling happily down at him as she rests a roll of tissues against his shoulder. The merchant Komatsuya Soshichi looks up warily, frowning slightly with his sleeve resting atop the hilt of his sword. His kimono is patterned with maple and gingko leaves, trimmed with gray striped fabric. She wears several layers of kimono over a red under robe with an embossed white collar, her hair pulled back into a stylish bun with decorative hairpins. The figures are set off by a deep blue background. From left, the actors are Bando Hikosaburo and Iwai Kumesaburo. A handsome design with fine line work in the hair and embossing on the beauty's white collar.
