Comments - Handsome scene from the play "Kachidoki Shichiji no Hatairo" featuring Nakamura Shikan IV as Sato Kazue no kami Masakiyo and Ichikawa Kuzo III as Umezawa Sagenta. At top, Masakiyo (the real-life Kato Kiyomasa), grimaces angrily as he looks over his shoulder while clutching the collar of the samurai Umezawa Sagenta, who is pulled off balance, his hand flailing as he falls backwards. Mountains can be seen in the distance across the water, with a rosy glow along the horizon at left as the sun sets. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and delicate cloth embossing on Masakiyo's white kimono and shirt.
