Segawa Kikunojo V as Umeomaru, 1831

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Segawa Kikunojo V as Umeomaru, one of the samurai triplets in the popular play "Sugawara Denju Tenerai Kagami." He stares over his shoulder with a tightlipped frown, his brows furrowed. He wears a black kimono patterned with his namesake plum blossoms (ume) over a red under robe with the same print. His thick hair is swept back into wings at the side of his head, with a small ponytail in the front and a topknot tied with a white cord in the back. A bold design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A few creases, slight rubbing. Please see photos for details.
