Yoemon Attacking Kasane, 1863

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene showing the former sumo wrestler Yoemon attacking his estranged wife, the geisha Kasane, who has been possessed by the spirit of a man Yoemon murdered, which horribly disfigures her face. He grabs the beauty by the collar as she struggles to break free, raising his weapon behind his back. She holds a mirror covered with a red brocade cloth in her hand. A circular inset above shows a the village Kingoro looking down with a worried frown. The actors are Nakamura Fukusuke as Yoemon and Nakamura Tsurujo as Kasane. A colorful design with expressive figures. Includes a dusting of mica across the top of the night sky.
