White Cockatoo on a Swinging Perch

Comments - Fantastic Meiji era reprint of white cockatoo on a swinging perch. The colorful details of the perch and the white bird contrast beautifully with the black background. The artist called this style of woodblock "taku hanga" (rubbing prints), because they resembled Chinese ink rubbings of inscribe stones. A great design that would make a terrific framed display.

Artist - Jakuchu (1716 - 1800)

Image Size - Diameter 10 1/4"; sheet size 10 3/4" x 12 1/2"

Condition - This print with nice color and detail as shown. Small tears at edges, repaired. Slight toning. Please see photos for details.
