Beauty Building a Snowman Kakemono, circa mid-1840s

Comments - Beautiful Edo era kakemono or vertical diptych of a young beauty building a snowman in the shape of the god Daruma. She holds an umbrella in one hand and pats a mound of snow with the other. She wears a brown and black coat over an intricately pattern paulownia print kimono, and tall geta clogs, a dotted cloth over her head against the cold air. A classic ukiyo-e beauty subject, nicely composed.

Image Size - 28 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few repairs and creases, slight rubbing, staining. Please see photos for details.
