Kan Shojo on Mt. Tenpai

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of Kan Shojo on Mt. Tenpai evoking a thunderstorm during his exile on the island of Kyushu. He holds up a pole with a cloth tied to it as a thundercloud appears and jagged bolts of lightning zigzag across the night sky. Gusts of wind blow his hair wildly about his head as two young samurai look on, and a boatman grips an oar at lower left. A bold design with a large expressive figure and fine line work in the hair. Includes faint embossing on Kan Shojo's white outer robe that is pushed down below his waist, and a geometric pattern in metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on his white kimono.
