Kawazaki Gonjuro I as a Water Seller

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene featuring Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as a water seller. He stands in front of his stall at right, a cup in hand, looking up with a slightly worried expression. Above him, a plaque of a swimming fish can be seen. The beauty in the center looks at him with a wistful expression as she holds a shamisen and plectrum. The commoner at left eyes her with an evil grin, a dotted cloth wrapped about his forehead and a box in his hand. Nice large figures set against a softly shaded night sky. An interesting subject.

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/2"
