Bando Hikosaburo V as Dote no Oroku and Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Kimon Kihei, 1867

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene featuring Bando Hikosaburo V as Dote no Oroku and Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as the commoner Kimon Kihei. Oroku glares back at her companion as she reaches for a blue cloth draped over her shoulder. A comb is slipping loose from her hair, and a few wisps frame her face, giving her a slightly disheveled appearance. Kihei looks up with an angry frown, his brows furrowed and a pipe in his hand. He wears a gray and blue striped kimono, a dotted cloth wrapped about his head. Curtains with writing on them hang over head. Nice large expressive figures, detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Image Size - 14" x 19"
