Comments - Interesting night scene of Prince Genji teasing a beauty, having taken her narrow red obi sash and tied it to the branch of a blossoming cherry tree. The beauty grabs hold of the end of the sash, turning her face away and hiding behind her sleeve as the grinning young nobleman takes hold of her wrist. In the center, a courtesan standing on the porch holds a lantern aloft, an alarmed expression on her face. She wears a red tie-dyed kimono bordered with a blue print and tied with a violet obi featuring a burnished geometric pattern that reverses to orange and yellow. A diagonal line and a row of clouds divides the triptych with a scene at right of two women gathered around a hibachi, one reading a book. Beautifully detailed with two different embossed patterns on Genji's white kimono, additional embossing on the white trim of the beauties' robes, and fine bokashi shading in the sky.
