Fan Sample Prints - This charming design comes from a group of sample woodblock fan prints for uchiwa or rigid fans. Sample prints were assembled into albums and sent to vendors or shown by salesmen as examples of the woodblock prints available for purchase from the company, with the publisher's inventory number stamped on the front or the reverse. Used primarily in the Kansai region, these sample prints are rarely seen outside of Japan as they were never intended for export. An interesting group.
