The Kanbu to Genroku Era (1661 - 1704) - Fantastic design from a series depicting beauties from different historical periods. This lovely court beauty wears an intriguing kimono patterned with miniature woodblock prints of Japan's famous One Hundred Poets interspersed with silver mica clouds, tied with a red orange patterned obi. The collar of her red under robe features an interesting spider web design, also in silver mica. He hair is pulled back into a sleek, gently curving ponytail, anchored with a transparent tortoiseshell comb. In the background at left, a samurai hidden beneath a large woven hat stretches out the sleeves of his coat, a yakko or footman following behind him. The unique large format figure fills the page beautifully, creating a wonderful graphic effect. Beautifully detailed with incredibly fine line work in the hair.
