Beauty Reading a Letter Kakemono

Comments - Charming kakemono or vertical diptych design of a beauty reading a letter, leaning back against a doorframe. Completely focused on the writing, she seems rather surprised at the contents, her mouth slightly agape as she looks down. She wears a violet kimono patterned with writing, bordered with a gourd and vine print on black. Her hair is piled high atop her head with many decorative floral hairpins and a large tortoiseshell comb. An attractive composition beautifully suited to the kakemono format, with a muted color palette accented with black.
