Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Boatman and Beauty

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene featuring a boatman and a beauty set against a red background with a tie-dyed textile pattern. The boatman looks over his shoulder with a tight-lipped frown, his oar in hand. The woman looks up with a wary expression as she flings one kimono sleeve over her shoulder and holds out the other. She wears a green outer robe over a tie-dyed kimono with bands of red and blue, her hair tied away from her face with a white sash. Nice expressive figures, detailed with burnishing on the black collar and the black obi.
