Series; Fifty-three Comparisons of Modern Figures
Morning View of Nihonbashi - Intriguing scene of beauties crossing Nihon Bridge in the early morning. In the center, two laborers carry what appears to be a shark hanging from a pole resting over their shoulders. The beauty at left pauses to look down at the creature, which has strange fins all along its back and large gills on its side. The woman in the center smiles back at her companion, her black kimono bordered with delicate leaves. At upper left, the snow-capped peak rises above the mountains, a rosy glow on the horizon as the sun begins to rise. The first time we've seen this fascinating subject.
