Scene from Omeyana gitsui no aigasa, 1850

Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play Omeyana gitsui no aigasa" of Hori no Wankyo dancing about at left as a couple watches. He hops on one foot, holding a pole behind his shoulders with one hand, frowning as he looks at one side. He wears an unusual cloth cap and a short black coat over a checked kimono scattered with flowers and tied with a yellow sash. At right, the beauty Matsuyama stares at him with an alarmed expression. Behind her, the noodle vendor Gohei holds up a mask, his green vest patterned with masks as well. Colorful autumn maple leaves frame the blue sky above. Nicely detailed.
