Comments - Great depiction of the Battle of Awazugahara, the last stand of Minamoto no Yoshinaka. fighting against his cousins, Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Minamoto no Noriyori, Yoshinaka gallops along, sending an enemy flailing backwards with a thrust of his spear, his horse covered with mud. The battle took place on the muddy rice fields of Awazu, and when Yoshinaka's horse became stuck in the mud, he committed suicide. A bold design with a large pine tree framing subject scene and mountains in the distance. The first time we've seen this samurai design.
