Arashi Rikan as Princess Kuzunoha, 1881 by Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Original Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Japanese Woodblock Print
Arashi Rikan as Princess Kuzunoha, 1881

Comments - Charming kabuki portrait of Arashi Rikan as Princess Kuzunoha standing at a garden gate, tilting her head as she peers around the doorway. Her red kimono is patterned with colorful blossoms, tied with a geometric print obi. The red autumn foliage of a Japanese maple frames the scene overhead, providing an attractive contrast to the softly shaded evening sky. Includes metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the hair ornament. A handsome design.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Small tears, repaired, a couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
