Comments - Fantastic triptych of a scene inside the Taira fortress at Ichi-no-Tani, where confusion reigns following Minamoto no Yoshitsune's descent from the cliffs of Hiyodori-goye in preparation for attack. A lookout on the palace rooftop at right spies Yoshitsune's men on their way down the steep hillside, banners and standards just visible among the gray rocks. In the center Munemori prepares to escort the women to safety, while flames and smoke billow from the campfires. Outside the camp fighting begins on the shore as a fleet of ships arrives. An incredible night scene with outstanding detail. An excellent subject for collectors interested in the samurai tradition.
