Series; Eighteen Honorable Acts
Chinese Story, 1902 - Handsome diptych showing a group of Chinese officials in an interior. The leader sits at a low table with a document spread out before him, a tiger skin draped across his chair. The men regard him solemnly from their elegantly carved armchairs. Each wears a formal court robe and a cap. Beautifully detailed with fine line work in faces and hair, burnishing on the black robe, and delicate cloth embossing on the white pants at left. Nicely composed with an attractive setting.
