Series; One Hundred Beautiful Women at Famous Places in Edo
Susaki, 1857 - Attractive image of a beauty enjoying a stroll on a cool day. A hood is tied around her head with a white sash, and she holds the sleeves of her plaid kimono up to her chest as if trying to keep warm. She wears tall wooden geta clogs, and her black print obi reverses to a gray green color. The lush grasses beneath her feet grow over a rocky ledge with water in the distance. The inset above by Kunihisa II shows a view of Susaki with buildings along the shore and the sails of ships in the distance. A charming design.
