Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki)
The Marriage of Fujii, 1884 - Handsome depiction of the marriage of Kinoshita Tokichiro (a name Hideyoshi used as a young man) to the beauty Fujii. Tokichiro kneels at left, the samurai Maeda Inuchiyo sitting between him and his bride. The beauty smiles happily, wearing a pink and white robe with an embossed pattern, a cloth arrange over her head. A low table in the center holds an arrangement of flowers, and graduated red lacquer sake cups used during the wedding ceremony sit on a tray nearby. The folding screen at left depicts the elderly couple Jo and Uba beneath the Takasago Pine, who represent love and fidelity. A charming design.
