Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Shinsen Taikoki)
The Secluded Residence of Ogo, 1885 - Attractive scene of Lady Oyae performing a dance for Hashiba Hideyoshi at the secluded residence of Ogo. She strikes a pose holding her fan out before her, wearing a black kimono patterned with oversized blossoms and leaves of a white and yellow under robe with violet motifs, the fabric trailing on the floor around her. Hideyoshi watches at right, relaxing against a lacquer arm rest with a large cup of sake in his hand, two young boys at his side, The room opens onto a garden with blossoming cherry trees and a pond. Nicely detailed with burnishing on the black kimono, and embossing on the white and yellow robe and cherry blossoms. The first time we've seen this design from the series.
