Series; The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers (Kanadehon Chushingura)

Kawarazaki Kunitaro I as Okaru, 1866 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Kunitaro I as the courtesan Okaru in Act 6 of the "Kanadehon Chushingura," the popular drama about the 47 ronin. She smiles slyly as she looks down, using her hand mirror to try to read a secret message about the vendetta that Yuranosuke is reading. Nice fine line work in the hair, with a blue-violet border featuring the crests of Lord Hangan and Yuranosuke.

Condition - This print with nice color and detail as shown. Very slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. A few wormholes, repaired. Light rippling and curling. Please see photos for details.
