Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Bando Hikosaburo V as Ono no Michikaze

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo V as Ono no Michikaze in the play "Ono no Tofu Aoyagi Suzuri" at the Nakamura Theater. He holds a small parcel wrapped in cloth, frowning angrily as he looks over his shoulder. He wears a boldly patterned gray and brown kimono over a red under robe, tied with a yellow obi. A softly shaded blue and white cloth is wrapped around his head, the white portion delicately embossed. Tall autumn grasses and blossoms create an attractive backdrop against the evening sky. A nice composition.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)
