Suketakaya Takasuke III as Katada Rakuga, 1853

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Suketakaya Takasuke III as Katada Rakuga in "Hana mo Yoshida Iwao no Matsuwaka." He leans forward with an angry grimace as he begins to draw his sword, a drum in his other hand. His gray kimono features an abstract pattern of white and darker gray lines, tied with a blue striped obi. Nice detail in the interior setting.
