Inari Shrine at Oji, circa 1839 - 1842 - Beautiful Hiroshige landscape view of the Inari Shrine at Oji, one of the oldest Shinto sites in Edo. The shrine is situated on a hill thickly covered with pine trees, with a torii gate at right opening onto stairs up the hillside. In the middle ground, pedestrians stroll along a road that leads to the entrance, lined with shops and stone lanterns. A few plum trees bloom in the foreground at the edge of the fields, with two travelers walking through the grass. A lovely design, nicely detailed with soft shading in the sky. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Image Size - 8 5/8" x 13 1/4" + margins as shown
