Comments - Handsome portrait of some of Yoshitsune's nineteen trusted retainers. The young general sits on a folding stool in the center wearing armor and a horned battle helmet topped with a dragon, a tasseled command baton in his hand. An elderly monk sits at lower right, wearing a voluminous robe over his armor and a monk's cowl around his head. His white beard and mustache flow down over his chest. The warrior to the right of him grips a naginata with both hands, staring sternly ahead. His battle helmet features two large golden leaves, and a quiver of arrows is visible at his back. The loyal warrior monk Benkei sits at left with a book open before him, an impressive array of weapons at his back. The text across the top names the retainers. A great design with expressive faces and wonderful detail in the armor and weapons.
