Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Collecting and Tying Grass

Children's Amusements - Charming design from an 1899 series featuring children at play. The scenes feature a variety of amusements, from outdoor fun to indoor games like Fukuwarai, trying to place the features on a blank face, often of Okame, the goddess of mirth, while blindfolded (similar to pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey). These attractive scenes are nicely detailed with handsome setting. A fun look at children's pastimes during the Meiji era.
